Appraisals

Carmen specializes in American Art of the 20th and 21st Century including paintings, drawings, prints and sculpture with specialization in Regionalism and Early Texas Art.

There are many reasons why one would go about seeking an appraisal. The most commonly performed appraisals are:

  • Donation (non-cash charitable contributions) for tax purposes

  • Insurance purposes

  • Damage and/or loss purposes

  • Estate tax purposes

  • Gift tax purposes

When seeking an appraisal, make certain you hire a professional with the proper credentials. A “qualified appraiser” as defined by the IRS is an individual that:

  • Has earned an appraisal designation from a recognized professional appraiser organization or has otherwise met minimum education and experience requirements set forth in regulations prescribed by the Secretary,

  • Regularly performs appraisals for which the individual receives compensations, and

  • Meets such other requirements as may be prescribed by the Secretary in regulations or other guidance

Carmen received her credentials through the Appraisers Association of America. All of her appraisals fulfill the Federal Tax codes and IRS rules and requirements of Uniform Standards of Professional Appraisal Practices.
